#10324 closed Bug Report - General (Unverified)
'Irrecoverable recorded error' - cannot change channel with AverMedia 507

Description
When I start mythfrontend and choose Watch TV the program shows up the channel which was indicated in video source as default. But if I try to change channel the program hangs for a few seconds and then close LiveTV and shows "Irrecoverable recorded error".
It is very strange, because MythTV 0.23 successfully works with my tuner.

You were right. Problem was solved by adding user mythbackend to 'audio' group.

The backend log indicates that audio input device configuration for your tuner is broken. Failing to start the recorder is most likely due to this misconfiguration. Please ask on the mythtv-users mailing list ( http://www.mythtv.org/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users ) for additional help configuring your system.

Castor, what are you meant when saying "Problem was solved by adding user mythbackend to 'audio' group."?
Can you tell us more about this?
P.S. I see in the log Russian locale. Some Russain users of MythTV communicate it this forum thread http://forum.ubuntu.ru/index.php?topic=34245.0

You can see such lines at backend.log:
2012-02-12 19:41:17.914 AudioInALSA(hw:3,0) Error: pcm open failed: Permission denied 2012-02-12 19:41:17.947 NVR(/dev/video1) Error: Failed to open audio device ALSA:hw:3,0 2012-02-12 19:41:17.980 NVR(/dev/video1) Error: Failed to init audio input device
I set up capture card with audio device "ALSA:hw:3,0" but user "mythbackend" by default have no privileges to use it (crw-rw----+ 1 root audio). So adding user to audio group was the right solution in my case.

Castor, thanks for reply.
And if you let, some questions.
- What distro are you using?
- What are your hardware config?
P.S. For me and many other user (see tickets on this tracker) analoge TV (tuner without hardware encoder) don't change channel on MythTV 0.24.

Hi!
Please continue this discussion on the mythtv-users mailing (or by email, sandybigboy full email address is listed on the MythTV translation page) list as Trac should not be used for discussion (even more so on a closed ticked).
Спасибо!
Nicolas
