ffmpeg3.2 rsync - segfaults on LiveTV channel changes

Description

after ffmpeg resync to 3.2 channel change in LiveTV frequently produces segfaults. 2 back traces attached.

In d9d9a2cddc5850755c8d92f4f27499c50fb62f62/mythtv:

Update SPDIFEncoder to use new AVFormat API.

Additionally, test for errors and abort early (this is what caused the segfault)

Fixes #12929
