Posting this as req on the dev ML. Mark's proxy seems to be blocked by trac/apache. I've not personally looked at nor reviewed this patch.
Attached are two files, a patch to create the gallery module and a zip of the associated icons.
This patch was based on one submitted by someone some time ago which I have gradually rewritten. (sorry I couldn't find you in the archive, whoever you were) All images are now scaled and cached.
The second part of this patch (to come later) is to implement cacheing of the channel icons and mythvideo covers.
Disclaimer: I am not a php developer (or any kind of developer) Criticism welcome, but be gentle...

Sorry, not too sure what you mean Daniel.. I just posted this ticket for a user on the mythtv-dev ML who couldn't access trac due to some sort of IP blocking. See the thread on the ML and ask there if there is anything extra needed (I think Mark will reply there).

Still no feedback after 3 months? Would be nice to be given time to address any issues before 0.21.

Vary unloved ticket this one. If no one is going to look at this it should probably be closed as wont fix.

Closing as wontfix. Maybe this will spur anyone who cares about it to finally take action on it.
Colin, thanks for the patch-- the hard work *is* appreciated. I know this is something we talk about each and every release. It may make more sense to revisit it when MythGallery gets Storage Group support in the hopefully-near-future, at which point we can pull the ticket out of mothballs.
