Non ascii video titles in mythweb are truncated

Reported by: yianniv Owned by: kormoc
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.24
Component: Plugin - MythWeb Version: Master Head
Severity: medium Keywords:
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Description

Ever since - I think - I moved to storage groups, in the mythvideo screen of mythweb the non-ascii titled videos appear on the left hand side as if they were folders (links). Moreover, some of them are only the left "half" phrases or words, and the right part is gone. Strangely, a <nonasciifile>.avi appears as "<nonasciifile>.a" i.e. the ascii letters "vi" are missing.

No standard phrase length, truncation seems random.

If a folder contains non-ascii videos, they will appear tabbed under the parent folder as sub-folders and the ascii titled videos will appear normally with their icons and titles on the main window.

Is this a misconfiguration on my part (in which case I apologize) or a bug?

There is nothing mentioned in apache.log or mythbackend.log (with -v important)

I hope the description is not too confusing.

The system is Debian Lenny (apache 2.2.9-10+Lenny4)

Do they contain letters that map to an ascii /?

Sorry, I just noticed your post.

There is for example a folder called Family, and in it, one of the videos is:

Βάπτιση Βασιλικής

What I get on the left frame is:

Family

Βάπτιση Βασιλικ

(there is no blank line between the two, this post creates it)

Many more are truncated, and not on the same letters or word length. Even English letters are cut: Δεσποινίς ετών 39.mk ("v" is missing)

The only Greek files that appear normally as videos on the main frame are isos, which of course, don't play.

These videos are missing from the main frame, the program thinks they are folders.

Thanks to Meikel Iwer with his #8724 ticket, I followed his tip and changed the LENGTH(filename) to CHAR_LENGTH(filename) in handler.php.

It actually corrects the folder structure, although some folders with only non-ascii filenames appear empty. At least the folders are there, though.

I think more work has to be done, but I can't help any more... Thanks, Meikel.

I am attaching the patch.

(In [26121]) Fixes #8339, this should fix utf-8 video titles
