INSTALL_ROOT seems broken in mythplugins installation

Description
When compiling SVN 8566 and setting --prefix=/usr in the configure script, something strange went on during install. Instead of installing into ie. /usr/share/mythtv/* it installed into /share/mythtv and ignored what I sat during configure. Running "INSTALL_ROOT=/usr sudo make install" solved the problem.
The box is running ubuntu breezy.
BTW, it is not possible to set the component for this ticket to "mythplugins", I used "mythtv" instead.

bjm, can you please explain what is invalid about this bug? Sure, perhaps I made a unneccesary comment above, but the bug is still a bug.
Tell me if you need more information.

I've seen this problem occur when you run "./configure --prefix=/blah" with different paths (blah) WITHOUT running a 'make distclean' in between .
This is very off topic, but lucky me got to file ticket no. 1000!
