#10469 closed Bug Report - General (fixed)

Black screen when selecting "Watch Live TV" on Mac OS X

Reported by: Joe Nyland <joenyland@…> Owned by: JYA
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.26
Component: Ports - OSX Version: Master Head
Severity: medium Keywords: mac mythfrontend black epg livetv
Cc: joenyland@…, joe@… Ticket locked: no

Description

MythFrontend shows a black screen with a video preview when I select "Watch Live TV" and I have the option "Show the program guide when starting Live TV" enabled.

Examples of this behaviour are attached as screenshots.

Moving around with the directional keys *sometimes* seems to refresh the screen to actually show the EPG.

Judging from the past issues I have had recently with recent builds, I presume this is a QT issue with the Mac, but I'm no developer!

change painter from Qt to Auto or OpenGL

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I'm afraid I was already running MythFrontend under OpenGL already.

Just to make sure though, I changed to auto (no difference), then back to OpenGL but still no difference.

It may be worth noting that I've not seen the example in screenshot 1 for some some time, but I get the screen in screenshot 2 every time I enter live TV with the option "Show the program guide when starting Live TV" enabled.

In 0a5d426a0c4ab4ac8791c9e87f8f44bf2e0b8514/mythtv:

Remove Painter settings on Mac OS X

MythFrontend requires OpenGL for proper operation, and mythtv-setup requires Qt.
This is a quick and dirty way to remove the guesswork for the user and automatically have what works.

MythMainWindow::Init now can take an optional argument specifying which theme painter to use and do not rely on user configuration
