#10876 closed Bug Report - Hang/Deadlock (Fixed)

Frontend hangs and Backend has partial functionality/deadlocks Fixes/0.25 5eb97790f3

Reported by: Michael Williams <mikeww2k@…> Owned by:
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.25.2
Component: MythTV - General Version: 0.25-fixes
Severity: high Keywords: Hang, Deadlock
Cc: Ticket locked: no

While recording 4 channels at once, When the recordings are done (or if a tuner fails and the recording is done) the frontend is unresponsive when trying to do anything that communicates with the backend. The backend still ouptuts information to the log file but cannot be stopped with the init.d script or with a normal kill (kill -9 required). I did see something in the log (using tail -f) flash by about scheduling at the completion of recording. This happens in fixes/0.25 commit 5eb97790f3. I had to revert to commit 5b843c1287 for the problem not to happen (with this commit I was able to record 14 simultaneous recordings), I have attached log files. The log file directory that has bad on the end is the bad commit with 4 recordings, the one with good at the end is with 14 recordings without lockup.

barriers is off for my filesystem.

The log file archive was to large to attach. I have included a public downlink that you may use to obtain the file. The file will remain there until this ticket is closed.

Please try again. This sounds very much like what stuartm fixed last night.
