PVR-350 ouput: preview window alpha wrong

Reported by: mythtv.cvs@… Owned by: ivor

Description

I'm not sure what's causing this, but the preview window (using a PVR-350) has a discolouration. This discolouration is a ghost of the image that is on the screen, almost as if one of the colours has been separated and "streaked" across the preview window.

There is no crash, and the image behind the colour overlay (often orange) is perfectly fine...

For example, if there are credits on the screen, the preview window will have a ghosted copy of the credits, displaced from the credits on the screen, and wavy. In this case, the credit "ghost" almost looks like many of the authenticaion schemes used to prevent automated spam bots from signing up to wikis and the like.

Ivor, I believe MythTV needs to set up the framebuffer global and local alphas at startup. My PVR-350 testing setup does not use the framebuffer I just display the MythTV UI in X11 and view the video in the PiP display on my monitor, so I can't test this easily myself.

L8R, I believe you can set the alpha values with the ivtvctl utility. The driver comes with a README that tells you about these values. Also if you could make a patch that would help greatly, you can see an example one of the alpha values being set in videoout_ivtv.cpp.

I'll check into this, although I haven't been able to find a readme describing what you mention.

Still, both mplayer and X11 output work fine for everything else, except for the preview window in the "watch recordings" menu. Even the small window that appears when the guide is up, in the 350's XV mode is fine. 350 mpeg output works fine as well. Wouldn't the alpha be off for everything?

Please let me know, and if you still think that it is the alpha, I will poke around and perform some tests...

Thanks
