Live TV Fails to switch to Analog tuner after digital tuner used

Reported by: Jay Jaeger <cube1@…> Owned by:
Priority: minor Milestone: unknown
Component: MythTV - General Version: Unspecified
Severity: medium Keywords:
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Description

Installed mythbuntu 12.04.3, then upgrading MythTV to 0.27 before configuring anything. After initial configuration of analog only, one tuner, Live TV would not work until I went back into the back end configuration and manually changed to a different channel.

Tuner: Hauppauge HVR-2250

Message: "Could not find A/V decoder" (presumably because it could not find the media file). (Same message as ticket #11960, but, possibly, a different cause, though I suppose they could be related).

Relevant front end log messages:

I have a feeling this might be related to #11211. Can you attach a mythfrontend log with "-v libav --loglevel debug", where this failure occurs?

In this test, I first brought up the frontend, tuned to a digital channel, then tried to change to the analog tuner with the "Y" command. The front end did not issue the "Could not find A/V decoder" message - it just stayed black. Note that I have not yet tried to do recording from analog while in this state - in progress today, I hope.

It does seem that recordings work OK, even when LiveTV does not - except that I find that after making configuration changes (and possibly even after a reboot), I have to go into the backend configuration and manually change the last channel used, at which point things start working again - I will report that as another ticket, since that affects the back end as well as the front end.

In looking thru a search I found a different problem that *might* be related to this one, #11402 .

Did anyone ever find a resolution to this? I'm having the exact same problem with 0.27.4

What I found over time was that it seemed to be an issue of the front end getting upset when the file created by the back end was empty. I have not spent any further time on it in months, and do not expect to.
