Description
I was investigating sporadic (every 30 minutes) video buffer underruns resulting in short interrupts in playback when watching 720p and 1080i DVB-S2 recording. It turned out they disappeared when I increase vdpaubuffercount to 32. I did not try any lower values. My setup is a ZOTAC IONITX A-E with "VDPAU Normal" settings.
The text in http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Vdpau was missleading because I thought vdpaubuffersize was removed with 0.26. Instead it was just renamed. I would have found the problem earlier if the description would have been clearer.

Use vdpaubuffercount option...
having said that, I've never encountered an issue with a file having a problem to play.
