#12259 closed Bug Report - General (Unverified)
Unable to play recordings on my TV set (Philips 32PFL5007K/12 TV)

Priority: | minor | Milestone: | unknown |

Description
I use MythTV packages from http://www.deb-multimedia.org/ for Debian testing.
I enclose 3 logs, 4 files describing my TV set, and the outpu of mythbackend --version.
MythTV2TVrecordings.console.log contains the log of an unsuccesful attempt to play "Brunet wieczorową porą"; the TV set displays a message in Polish meaning roughly "unable to open file".
MythTV2TVvideos.console.log contains the log of the succesful attempt to play "Brunet wieczorową porą" when it is treated as a video.
MythTV2gupnp-av-cp_local.backend.console.log contains the log of the succesfull attempt to play "Brunet wieczorową porą" as a recording with upnp-av-cp.
I've described the problem already on the mailing list:
http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2014-August/366452.html http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2014-August/366701.html http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2014-August/366850.html
I've posted there some logs including the wireshark logs.
Following the suggestion that the patch
https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12181
may be relevant I've recompiled the packages with the patch reverted, but it didn't solved the problem.

Thanks to Christian Marillat I was able to make a test on Debian sid with 0.27.3+fixes20140912-dmo1, which includes in particular the patch:
| UPnP: Fix dlna protocol string in 0.27, it wasn't DLNA compliant. | https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/a8040898f654a89f7f11dc5dabbaf06b44dc8f6b
Unfortunately it doesn't solve my problem.

I'm now running v0.28-pre-2245-g82da6e1 and can once again play content from recordings, music and video via upnp on my Panasonic TV. At present I have to choose at compilation time whether I want to play edited or raw 'recordings', and in-play navigation in music and videos is still hit-and-miss, but it's real progress. Thanks, in particular, to Stuart M.
Getting master to build under SL6 wasn't entirely straightforward but it's working well as my only active Myth box.
I don't know whether upnp in master would work for you but I'm sure that master is now a better place to start. Less like blind-man's-buff.

Closing all old tickets in trac.
If your issue still persists, please open an issue in Github https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/issues
and reference the existing trac ticket.
Although the UPnP server in 0.27 is UPnP compliant, it is not fully DLNA compliant, this is something I'm working on for 0.28. It's possible that 0.28 will just work, especially after I commit the next series of changes in a couple of days.
