Description
Since an update (pushed out by mythbuntu) a few weeks ago, we've been experiencing long delays browsing video folders under "Watch Videos" in mythfrontend. Previous to this update, the browsing was instantaneous (after that first initial delay).
For example to navigate into my "TV Series" folder takes 14 seconds. You press [Enter] with the folder highlighted, nothing happens for 14 seconds, then it goes through. It's not a disk-caching thing, it takes 14 seconds every time. Navigating through folders on the Samba share of the same directory hierarchy is still perfectly fast, as is remote browsing via scp+nemo, and NFS.
The length of the delay seems to correspond to the number of files in the folder. Browsing into a folder with little content take only a second.
Originally I figured the problem was because I was still on Mythbuntu 12.04. I have just upgraded to Mythbuntu 14.04 and the problem persists. I've checked the front-end log, nothing is reported about it.
don't use samba share nor nfs share to access content.
Instead leave the default via storage group and let the frontend connect to the backend via myth protocol.
