#12744 closed Bug Report - General (Won't Fix)

False channel conflicts on searching - same frequency, both H & V polarisation.

Reported by: bib_aab@… Owned by: jyavenard
Priority: major Milestone: 0.28.2
Component: MythTV - Mythtv-setup Version: Master Head
Severity: high Keywords: channel conflicts frequency polarisation
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Astra 28.2E has a number of dual polarisation transponders operating on the same frequencies.

As an example Astra 2G has 2 transponders, one vertical and one horizontal on frequency 11265.00.

When this happens, MythTV complains about channel conflicts when clearly there are none.

That is the major problem, but when it complains it puts the channel number inside parenthesis with an additional " 0". I cannot find what that means and should be removed.

Further, it gives no indication of how many of these so called "conflicts" exist a simple "x of y" would be welcome.

  • whilst the name of the one channel is given, the name of the other channel is not.
  • the suggest button adds the channel button to the entry box. It would be useful to simply suggest the next free channel number.
  • Indeed, for many conflicts, it would be easiest to provide an option to automatically assign channel numbers for all conflicts. Many users (myself included) reorder their channels afterwards anyway with SQL.
