Most VDPAU deinterlace modes do not work with recent NVidia drivers

Reported by: bjoernv@… Owned by: JYA
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.27.7
Component: MythTV - Video Playback Version: 0.27.6
Severity: medium Keywords: playback, deinterlace, nvidia, vdpau
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Description

Currently to most recent stable NVidia graphics driver is version 367.27.

After upgrading from the previous version 361.45.11 most VDPAU deinterlace modes do not work anymore. The problem started somewhere between version 361 and 367. See my report here (version 364.19): http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/599946

I tested all available VDPAU deinterlace modes in Mythfrontend -> Setup -> Video -> Playback. I tested with Live TV and recorded TV.

"Not working" means here, that I clearly see interlace artifacts.

Working

  • One Field (1x, HW)
  • Temporal (1x, HW)

Not working

  • Bob (2x, HW)
  • Advanced (1x, HW)
  • Temporal (2x, HW)
  • Advanced (2x, HW)

It is interlaced MPEG 2 video material:

Unfortunately I can't provide a screenshot. Deinterface artefacts can only be seen on running video. If I stop the video artefacts go away.

I attach the log file produced with "mythfrontend -v playback" during recorded video playback
