John

Does this happen all of the time or under specific conditions?

Can you get a screen shot to just confirm what is happening?

comment:2 Changed 4 years ago by John Hoyt

It occurs all the time in both recordings and videos playback. Both for 480i and 1080p videos.

When paused, I see no OSD (could just be off screen). When I hit menu I get the oversized screen like when Mark and I were debugging in the referenced ticket 13618.

Screenshot will be attached shortly.

Could you attach a 'mythfrontend -v playback' log.

The new scaling is obviously being applied twice - but I'm not currently sure whether it is the opengl side or the size we chose for the OSD.

Thanks, Mark

Playback log now attached.

Thanks - so the OSD is created at the correct size - hence it must be the rendering.

Out of interest - have you tested HEVC playback much with that setup? Curious to see whether 10bit playback works.

comment:6 Changed 4 years ago by John Hoyt

I have not.

I'll have to transcode and/or download some HEVC videos. Any particular resolutions you'd like me to try? (I'll assume UHD / 1080p).

Thanks John - try:-

if that works, maybe work up to the higher resolutions on that site:-

All tests on a MacBook? Pro (16-inch, 2019) - over wifi 802.11AC (3 feet away from radio)

Running app built on High Sierra / Xcode 10 - playback is choppy on the 3mbps file

Running app built on Catalina / Xcode 11.5 - playback is flawless up to 90mbps file. (choppy starting at 110mbps).

If you'd like, I can also retry results plugging into the main gigabit switch to see if wifi is causing any of the issues.
