#1449 closed patch (fixed)

Manually scheduled not recording

Reported by: shrimp@… Owned by: gigem
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.22
Component: mythtv Version: head
Severity: medium Keywords:
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Description

If a timespan is manually scheduled to record on a channel that is marked "not visible in EPG" in channel setup, the recording will be marked as NotListed? and thus won't be recorded. This fix allows recording anyway. Attention: This is a bad ass hack, I'm not that deep in the internals of mythtv to estimate all consequences of the changes, so it might be a good idea if someone else would have a look at it. This patch is done against 0.19.20060121-2.

Hope you find it helpful. Sorry, if I ignored any coding conventions, but I'm rather new to linux...

Regards,

Tass.

I can verify the underlying bug exists. It bit me recently. A brief glance at the patch doesn't fill me with joy however.

FWIW, I'm pretty certain that /all/ channels marked as not visible are intentionally ignored by the scheduler for /all/ recordings/recording types. See the last paragraph of Bruce Markey's post at http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/269164#269164 :

"If for some reason you still receive channels that you don't want to use, you can mark them as not visible and the scheduler, searches, EPG will ignore them."

Perhaps a better fix is to modify the "Visible" setting's help text to indicate that the channels will not be used for any recordings? And, with the recent addition of the new multiple-favorites channel groups, I would argue that the visible flag should not be used to hide a channel that the user intends to use--regardless of how infrequently it will be used.

Comment above was Sphery - And since I have no real knowledge here, I would agree.

To be clear here, I would consider this ticket fixed since favorite channel groups allow this functionality.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
