Description
In mythtv-setup (svn head 109 'Recorder Options', there is an flag-able option called "Wait for SEQ start header".
The help description says "Normally the dvb-recording will drop packets from the card until a sequence start header is seen. This option turns off this feature". It is unclear to me now if I should check or uncheck the option if I want it to wait for a SEQ start header.

This is not ambiguous. If you know what a sequence start header is then it pretty clear what this means. We only have so much space for the help text...
I'm sure if you search the mailing lists, you will find a 5000 word answer that helps you choose the better option for you.

I think you misunderstood the issue I was trying to highlight :
If the option is called "Wait for SEQ start header", logically, enabling this option would cause the recorder to drop packets until a SEQ start header is seen.
Then we look at the help text which says "This option turns off this feature", suggesting that enabling the option will cause it NOT to wait for a SEQ start header.
