Myth DVD Internal shutting down mythfrontend

Reported by: david@… Owned by: skamithi
Priority: minor Milestone: unknown
Component: mythdvd Version:
Severity: medium Keywords:
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Description

When I try to play back a DVD using Internal it causes mythfrontend to quit. Nothing happens to mythbackend and no log entries are written. I've tried using a wide variety of DVDs all with the same results. The same DVDs play back fine using xine. I've tried using standard xvmc (my usual default), standard and libmpeg for playback with the same results (recorded and live TV work fine with all of these).

Compiled using GCC 3.3.1 on PCLinuxOS (originally .92 but kept up to date) with QT version 3.3.5.

MythTV source version 10996 Library API version 0.20.20060828-3

I can second this - some DVD's I have do not play with the internal player, but play fine with xine. I can usually get to the root menu, but anything after that abruptly kills the frontend. Verbose all logs show nothing.

Once I get a debug build up I'll try and see exactly where it dies.

pls attach the "-v all, nodatabase" output even though it doesn't seem useful.

also the backtrace doesn't seem complete, was pagination turned off ? if not, please follow the instructions at http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO.html#toc22.2

I followed the instructions in the howto, but gdb seems a bit moody on my computer. I've attached the log as well. The last two lines are:

libdvdnav: get_PGCN failed. Was trying to find pgcN in domain 2 libdvdnav: chapter NOT FOUND!

Hmm. I'm pretty sure this wasn't there in the last set of logs I looked at, but at least it indicates something.

Resolution: invalid
Status: newclosed

seems like an OS issue.

Let me put it this way:

DVD works with xine, using the same libs (libdvdread/libdvdnav). DVD does not work with Myth's internal player.

OS issue? Or subtle bug somewhere in Myth? Happens in about one in 20 PAL region 4 DVD's I rent out. But now I've been reminded of it, I'll rent out a few DVD's that I know have issues and pursue it further.
