#5377 closed defect (wontfix)

mythtv-setup should recommend running mythfilldatabase --manual --only-update-channels

Description

After creating an xmltv Video Source, mythtv-setup tells me I will need to run 'mythfilldatabase --manual'. However when I do so, I have to provide the channel information multiple times. More precisely:

  • the first time I have to provide the channel id, channel name etc for each of the 29 channels. This is as expected.
  • however then I have to type Enter through the pre-filled data 8 more times as mythfilldatabase retrieves data for the next eight days.

This second step of typing enter over and over again (with pauses while the data gets downloaded) can be avoided by adding the '--only-update-channels' option. This makes the setup quite a bit simpler already so mythtv-setup should suggest using it.

Using the Debian packages: --- libmyth-0.21 0.21-0.13 mythtv-backend 0.21-0.13 mythtv-common 0.21-0.13 mythtv-database 0.21-0.13 mythtv-frontend 0.21-0.13 --- Please include all output in bug reports. Maybe it'd be even smarter if mythfilldatabase --manual just downloaded one day by default.

Resolution: wontfix

This is to dependent on the specific xmltv grabber for MythTV to give more than the general advice it gives now.
