release-0-22-fixes/mythtv/contrib/Linux/init_scripts/slackware.init.mythbackend
the above script does not restart properly and ends up creating multiply mythbackend processes when you execute mythbackend restart
also once you invoke stop it will only stop one proccess i created my own script intended for you use with slackware and possible other distros as it is simple and effect please consider replacing release-0-22-fixes/mythtv/contrib/Linux/init_scripts/slackware.init.mythbackend with my attached copy

It looks like you are losing your PID file or it is not being created on startup. I am having no trouble with the given init script on my system.
