MythBuntu theme problem

Please see the attached screenshot from the MythBuntu? theme. The white bars after All Programmes and Entertainment are clearly not correct. They seem to be related to the width of text in the rows, as other rows have less wide text and don't show the problem.

A similar problem shows when browsing videos (not TV shows).

Other themes don't seem to be affected.

The problem started a few days ago. I use Ubuntu 10.10 and update daily with mythbuntu 0.24-fixes autobuilds. I am currently using:

Thanks Mark. This certainly looks better, as I no longer see the horizontal white bars. However, I don't think things are back as they used to me. Several bits of text seem to be cut off earlier than they should be, or earlier than they used to be at least, prior to the white bar problem.

For example, if you look at "Truncated text in filter choice 1.png" (and compare it with "MythBuntu? theme problem.png") you'll see that the white bars have gone, but the text "All Programmes [323 item" is truncated. "Truncated text in filter choice 2.png" shows it more obviously, in the Music/Ballet/Dance? category.

"Truncated text in video list.png" shows what now happens in the video list, where you can see several bits of text that seem to be truncated earlier. Previously, there were several white bars to the right of where the truncations appear, although unfortunately I didn't take a screenshot of that.

I'm sure that prior to the bug that introduced the white bars, all these pieces of text were not truncated at this point, so more of the text was visible, although again, I don't have screenshots to show that.

Please accept my apologies if I should have opened a new ticket, or added this comment to a different ticket, as this may well be a separate bug.

The white bar issue, as now fixed, was present on at least one other theme (Graphite was my other reference point).

On both themes, there was no white bar when using the Qt painter or the OpenGL painter with non-power of two (i.e. rectangular) textures disabled. The issue was specific to the use of an OpenGL feature.

The MythBunutu? theme also showed the cropped text issue using the Qt painter before the fix - Graphite did not.

After the fix, all 3 painting methods produced identical theme results on the effected screens (Graphite and MythBuntu?).

The only remaining issue was the MythBuntu? cropping which I concluded must have been a theme problem. I haven't checked the actual xml but I suspect that there is a pre-existing bug with the theme that recent commits have exposed (most likely the same one that exposed the OpenGL texture problem b25ec2ebee9bfebf)

Hi Mark,

On reflection, I think you can close this ticket as "fixed". I believe the cropping issue that I now see may be a different problem, and it is being discussed in ​http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/dev/471751 . In any case, I don't think it is related to the white-bar issue which you have kindly fixed.
