#9769 closed Bug Report - Crash (Need more Info)

Live TV fails with "Video frame buffering failed too many times" - HDHomeRun; DVB-T

Reported by: agelatos@… Owned by:
Priority: minor Milestone: unknown
Component: MythTV - DVB Version: 0.24-fixes
Severity: high Keywords: mythpreviewgen crash hdhomerun dvb-t
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Description (last modified by Raymond Wagner)

Watching LiveTV from HDHomerun tuner fails every 2-3 minutes with a crash on mythpreviewgen. Can happen immediately after a channel change or just by watching for some time (variable). Change of FS from ext4 to JFS makes no difference.

MythTV drops back to menu with message "Video frame buffering failed too many times"

Frontend logs contain "Waited 100ms for video buffers dDAdAALAAAADdAAAA" (last ID is always different)

Last error from front end:

tried with following version:

MythTV Version : v0.24-259-g475f612 MythTV Branch : fixes/0.24 Network Protocol : 63 Library API : 0.24.20110505-1 QT Version : 4.7.2 Options compiled in:

linux debug using_alsa using_oss using_pulse using_pulseoutput using_backend using_bindings_perl using_bindings_python using_dvb using_firewire using_frontend using_hdhomerun using_hdpvr using_iptv using_ivtv using_joystick_menu using_lirc using_mheg using_opengl_video using_opengl_vsync using_qtdbus using_qtwebkit using_v4l2 using_x11 using_xrandr using_xv using_bindings_perl using_bindings_python using_mythtranscode using_opengl using_vdpau using_ffmpeg_threads using_live using_mheg

and problem remains - no segfault anymore but same behaviour; will gather logs to attach.

Seems that this problem happens approx 2.5 minutes though the live tv. I thought it was EIT related so I changed to 'Quick Tune' always; but that did not fix anything. In this second batch of logs, action happens at 2011-05-10 00:28:19.290. At that point the frontend freezes and the backend dumps a load of stuff that looks like EIT ; no segfault

Please help!!!!!

Hi again; I upgraded yesterday to latest from mythbuntu ppa, the problem seems PARTIALLY resolved. I think the root cause is the point where the LiveTV recording switches from one file to the other. The problem is less prominent now (I dont see the frontend failing anymore) but there are still entries in the logs like this one:

Waited 100ms for video buffers dDAdAALAAAADdAAAA

So currently (I think my MythTV is now at 0.24.20110510 but will confirm tonight) the problem seems partially gone.

Please advise on how you want to proceed - logs; backtrace; etc

Issue is unrelated to mythpreviewgen.

agelatos, have you tried rescanning your channels? You're getting a lot of:

2011-05-10 00:33:49.015 Desired program #10 not found in PAT.

errors.
