MythMusic crashes on some flac files

Reported by: mac20xx@… Owned by: paulh
Priority: minor Milestone: 0.25
Component: Plugin - MythMusic Version: 0.24.1
Severity: medium Keywords:

Description

Hello,

I got 2 or more flac files which crash MythMusic (about 8 of 10 playbacks). Testing the files with "flac -t xxx.flac" gave no errors.

Yesterday I debugged with -v playback and some of the los showed glibc errors (see mythtv.log---*).

Today Irecompiled mythtv with debugging options and started mythfrontend with gdm. At that point when mythmusic normally crashed I saw that the Visulisation in the playback window (I'm using only AlbumArt?) went black and stayed black or went into some white "waves" on black background.

I'm on Debian stable with mythtv from debian.multimedia.org.

On both of these logs, it you are several minutes into the last track on the album, and at least with Right Said Fred, the timestamps appear to line up exactly with the published track length. Does that mean it is crashing as playback finishes and everything is closing down?

Is the problem reproducible with the same files at the same point in playback?

Those traces and logs show significant variation in the locations of the faulting code. One cause of this is memory corruption, but others include faulty RAM.

On Right Said Fred it's close to the end of the song (length 5:08) but Lil' Dub Chefin' plays 11:21. At the crashing point in Lil' Dub Chefin' 30 or more seconds silence start before the second part begins.

Yes, but without gdm mythfrontend symply closes so I can't say that its exactly at the sam second buts its close to that points.

It's an old PC build around 2004 but the errors are reproducable on these songs. I'm currently playing Lil'Dub Chefin' on my laptop to see what happen.

2 laptop also crashed but nothing interesting in the log. I'll install the dbg versions and try again.

Tests done and both files crashed on my acer laptop, the only difference was that AlbumArt? was ok after the crash.

Can you try playing those files with mythffplay and let us know if it also crashes?

As Stuart said these backtraces are all over the place so it's difficult to know where to start. One is related to the old UI so we can ignore that one several of the others look like memory corruption so the bt's don't tell us much.

A lot has changed since this ticket was opened so could you please try to reproduce with 0.25 and reopen with fresh bts if it's still a problem.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
