Issues with viewing recordings and fanart after enabling IPv6

Description

Since I enabled IPv6 in MythTV's configuration, two things broke:

I don't see any fanart anymore:

What are the exact values you put into the two IP fields in mythtv-setup?

"fe80::21f:1fff:fe23:a434/64" is not an address that can be connected to. Drop the "/64" and see if it works.

No, it doesn't, and I actually only added it because without that suffix the FE doesn't connect to the BE at all.

No. As stated, "fe80::21f:1fff:fe23:a434/64" is not a valid IP address, so in that scenario, the code reverts back to IPv4 operation. Apparently the image downloads are run through a separate code path that bypasses the validity check, causing MythTV to try, and fail, to resolve that string as a hostname.

But it's still a bug that the FE doesn't connect at all to the BE if I use the (correct) notation fe80::21f:1fff:fe23:a434.

The scope ID is being tossed into the mix somewhere, which is causing MythTV to not recognize the address. However, that is an independent issue, and the problem you are seeing is caused by specifying an invalid address.

At this stage, and until the bug is worked out... There are two things you can do.

If both machines are using eth0 as network cards. Add the scopeid eth0 to the IPv6 address you entered in the mythtv-setup. Eg.: fe80::21f:1fff:fe23:a434%eth0

Or: Get a set of real IPv6 address, plenty of providers assigning IPv6 subnet for free and configure the interfaces on all your machines to use this IPv6 subnet.

Upgrade your current mythtv to include e4ba7d74aee6bd437e747772046a8836fa9ae5cb commit. Remove the IPv6 configuration, leave it blank or put ::1
