Duplicate videos in library sometimes only appear in one place in list view.

I recently set up a new system for a friend using .25 Fixes from the current Ubuntu repos.

He asked that in his video library new files are dropped into two locations after they've been run through nuvexport.....

--> Mnt --> Media --> TV --> New

and

--> Mnt --> Media --> TV --> Directory Name For Show (i.e. NCIS)

That means he can quickly see any new episodes to watch in the New directory and know the files have also been added to his library for that show.

However there is a strange effect when a 'Scan for Changes' takes place in that the show (while the file does definitely exist in both locations) only appears in either 'New' or 'Directory Name for Show' when viewed through

Media Library --> Watch Videos --> "List View with Directory Structure Showing".

At first I thought this was a one off, however I've been able to duplicate it with a number of shows.

I've searched previous tickets and couldn't see it listed so thought I better file a bug report.

This is not so much a bug as a side effect of intentional design. The video library generates a hash of all content in the library, in order to be able to properly detect moved files and keep the existing metadata attached to them. Only one instance of a given hash is allowed to exist at any time, so when the same file exists in two locations, it bounces back and forth between them on each scan. This is planned to be fixed for 0.27.
