LiveTV stalling and exiting at programme transitions after [4ff7c1fca]

Severity: | medium | Keywords: | |

Description
Running Gentoo, installing using ebuilds. When watching liveTV all versions newer than 317d5b7 keep stalling briefly every now and then (Waited XXXms for video buffers in log) and when one show ends and another one starts liveTV exits to main menu. This seems to be frontend problem only, my backend is updated to latest and works no problem.

OK, just installed the version below and the problem is still there, every time a new file is created by BE the FE is unable to play it and exits to menu.

More info. The problem is there only when watching analog via Haupauge 2250. For some reason FE seems to be unable to handle it.

After bisecting I've found out the first commit that does not work is 4ff7c1fca6999976a16fb14fada66c55c24f514f

The method modified isn't used during program transition.
I would be keen to close this as work for me. Especially as this has been now in used for over 6 months with no one else reporting a problem

Thanks for looking into this. Problem is dead serious for me and I'm sure there are others, they are just not coming forward. I understand analog liveTV is not important for most people. Digital works fine for me with 27.4, too. I'm just hoping the code causing this problem for me will be changed in 28.

Just some thoughts. When I delay playback by at least 2 minutes the transition takes place and next show will play, but the time display is messed up, it will show (0:0) when I hit "I". And when I leave it like this next transition crashes again. When I try to manipulate this with < and > the FE hangs and I have to kill it.

FWIW I'm seeing identical problems on my Fedora system. I did not see these problem under the combination of the 3.15.10-201 kernel/0.27.3 backend, but they started appearing when I upgraded to the 3.17.6-200 kernel/0.27.4 backend combination. The same update command pulled in both (and a subsequent one delete the old kernel) so I can't pull them apart.
However this does indicate a situation where the hardware stayed the same and a software upgrade took the system from a working to a non-working state.
Distro: Fedora 20
Backend and frontend version: v0.27.4-6-ge0b0027
Kernel: 3.17.6-200.fc20.x86_64
