Ubuntu: Mythvideo crashes, Mythtv tv screen is too large, sound to play from hauppage or main sound card

Description

The mythvideo issue is almost identical to ticket: 2302. I tried importing movies on my AMD64 machine, using the IMDB search, but now when I click on video library or manager, mythvfrontend crashes. The issue in ticket 2302 I feel was not resolved or clearly explained.

Another issue is that when I run the tv, the screen shows a resolution that is too large and does not fit on the screen. My cable box is connected to the computer using s-video. The video comes up just fine but does not all fit on the screen.

Final issue/issues, I am trying to get sound on the computer from the cable box. I tried one method by connecting the sound to the Line in port of the main sound card, the audio played but it played all the time, even when I ran mythmusic. The other method I tried was to connect the sound into the line in port of the Hauppage card but there was not sound playback.

Also what is a good IR Blaster/ IR Receiver that I can use on an ubuntu box, I have a USB-UIRT but it seems to be incredibly difficult.

1) You have not included any details of the Mythideo crash to let the developers work out what is happening. Please read the documentation (we need to know the version, verbose output, gdb backtrace, et c.)

2) You have included two other problems and one advice question. These are all user-level stuff. Please either do some research (Google the forums or mythtv-user mailing list), or join and discuss them on the user list.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
