Description
mythtv0.25+fixes-git lucid 10.04 vdpau. This commit causes high playback jitter for this user (& couple of others on *buntu forums) with non-ideal video modes. This commit does not improve playback (IMO) for users with framerate exact video modes. http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-commits/2011-January/077008.html.
I have been using patch for 6 months & monitoring the jitterometer in the OSD. My display is set to 1080i60 but it can work with i50 & 720p60. Tested with 1080p24, 1080i50, 576i50 & NTSC DVD. With display set to 60Hz mode there is no jitter for p24 & NTSC DVD & low jitter for i50 media.
I note that XBMC has a setting to switch between the different video timing based on the display or recording timing.

0.28 patch to fix refreshrate jitter reintroduced by recent commit to help sick AVI files
comment:1 Changed 11 years ago by
This ticket can be closed on master 0.28. With recent commits to mythplayer.cpp (from LWR) to fix the seeking PTS stuttering..the patch in this ticket is not required & actually makes jitter worse.
So right now in master there is no excess frame jitter playing 50Hz media with 60Hz refreshrate display. Thanks.
