Description
In 0.25, a feature was added to allow MythTV to use firewire to control channel changing on an STB via firewire without it actually using the firewire recorder. http://code.mythtv.org/trac/changeset/d49f3f22dbf7aae97478875e2a46b176eea70407/mythtv
However, it requires direct DB manipulation to use. I've been using it with great success since 0.25 to control the channel changes on my STB that's hooked up to an HD-PVR.
I'm submitting this ticket as a developer task because I believe this is a "forgotten" feature that the original dev never finished (and isn't around anymore). From conversations in the past, I'm not sure most of the existing devs even realize this feature exists. However, this feature should be finished as I find it very useful, and I'm sure others would as well if they knew it existed and could leverage it as I have.
