I didn't read the instructions first, but there's a pull request against master in github here: https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/pull/56
I can resubmit against the right branch if this is good enough.
This patch sort of fails gracefully if there are no season or episode numbers in the DB by just picking 0. Not sure how desirable that is to the community at large, but it works for me, and is better than not having it at all..
