Description
There should be a way to have DVD subtitles for only sections of the movie that are not the default language. This can be seen in such films as Kill Bill (the sushi bar), and The Da Vinci Code. Using xine, I do not set subtitles, but I get them for the parts where the speech is not english (my default language).

Hmmm...since which svn #? I have 11768 installed and it didn't work (automatically) on The Da Vinci Code. I'm currently building the latest (which includes the bookmarks too - woo hoo!)

Output of section where there should be subtitles (after fast forward)

I have included attachments of both the section where there should be subtitles as well as the beginning (because the section that you requested, doesn't seem to show anything).

Da Vinci code has some other oddities. It would freeze and then eventually exit the player at repeatable locations during the movie. I couldn't watch it at all w/ Myth's internal player. I was even able to verify it with two different DVDs (my wife accidentally rented it locally after I'd already rented it online). So, let me know how you fair with this DVD when you rent it.

if the "force display" bit is set in the subtitle but no subtitle is currently running, turn on subtitles.

The subtitles still work correctly for other DVDs (Kill Bill), so this doesn't appear to break anything.
this should work in the latest svn ..is that what you are using ? If not, upgrade and test again.
if the problem persists, after the upgrade, for the da vinci code, which i will borrow shortly, send me the -v playback.. skip to the section where the subtitles should show, then exit the dvd. This way I can see from the debugs which part and title contains the subtitle track change.
