#7395 closed defect (fixed)

Playback of mp3s in mythmusic causes high load

Reported by: stuartm Owned by: JYA
Priority: major Milestone: 0.23
Component: MythTV - Audio Output Version: head
Severity: high Keywords:
Cc: Ticket locked: no

Description

Playback of stereo mp3s is causing 60%+ load on a 2.5Ghz processor, enough that when another CPU intensive process is running (compilation) audio starts to stutter and break up.

This is a very recent problem, I'd have to say sometime in the last 10 days or after 0.22 was branched. Given the relatively small number of changes which could possibly be related I suspect the audio output commit(s).

Did you activate the upmixer for mythmusic playback (default is off)

Upmixing is disabled, system only has stereo speakers connected and 'Stereo' selected in the global audio settings.

Could you please provide a log with -v audio, timestamp while playing the MP3.

And showing logs before the playback starts ...

Thank you

(In [22572]) Change default upsampler setting when using stereo from Best to Good.

Should close #7395.

Better fix to come, will provide ability to configure the upsampler separately

Will we see this backported to 0.22-fixes?
