Description
MythTV .23-fixes svn Avermedia Hybrid Volar Max, .10beta version of h826d driver, ATI fglrx 10.4 binary driver
LiveTV:
- "Failed to reinitialize video output" when attempting to view live 1080 streams.
- 720 streams display 2 identical images ( deinterlacing problem) on top of one another vertically on the same screen.
DVD:
- Playback of DVDs demonstrate the aforementioned problems. As playback proceeds from the menus ( displays 2 identical images (interlaced) ) to the actual movie ( displays most of the image but not all of it on the screen * (progressive) ), the screen constantly flickers as it attempts to display the image on my monitor at full-screen resolution, i.e. 1920x1080.
Some of these problems MIGHT be related to ATI's driver, but not all of them. Item 1 used to work properly until about a couple of weeks ago ... When ATI releases their next binary driver, I'll try it to see if any positive change occurs, but I'm willing to bet that it won't remove the error, "Failed to reinitialize video output".

No, I haven't tried the open source driver yet, because I'm in the process of upgrading my distribution which will probably be somewhat complicated. I expect the upgrade process to take about a week as I sort through the various issues. In the meantime, ATI will likely release a new binary driver as well. However, before I upgrade to the newer ATI driver, I'll try the open source version as development has been progressing nicely.
I'd like to keep this bug open for about a week as I sort through the issues. I'll keep you in the loop.
Lastly, thanks for the information on the de-interlacing issue with ATI's driver.

Ok,
The issue with the dual images is due to the ATI driver. The "Failure to Reinitialize Video Output" can't be duplicated since reverting to the official release of 0.23 from 0.23-fixes and switching to an updated distribution... so
Please close this ticket and thanks for your time and effort on this ticket and MythTV in general. Good stuff! :)

The 2 images issue is a very well known ATi driver bug, use a de-interlacing method other than Bob.
I'm reasonably certain that the other issues you are seeing can be ascribed to the ATi driver. Have you tried the open source driver instead?
