#12863 closed Bug Report - General (fixed)

when using a network remote with an openmax profile, SEEKFWD and a few others do not work

Reported by: hades@… Owned by: Peter Bennett
Priority: minor Milestone: unknown
Component: Ports - rPi Version: 0.28.0

Description

When playing video with a OpenMax? profile (normal or High Quality) and also using a network remote (mythmote on android), SEEKFWD, SEEKRWD and PAUSE (and maybe a few others, like play which i could not test because pause did not work) do not work.

I tested to make sure it was not a configuration issue by switching to the opengl playback profile and playing a video and the above mentioned buttons work correctly when using a network remote.

Are you running on a Raspberry Pi?

The OpenMAX profile is only intended to work on Raspberry Pi, and the OpenGL profiles will not work on Raspberry Pi.

Please let me know details of your hardware setup.

Yes i am running on a raspberry pi 2. The video plays really well with the openmax profiles, i switched to the opengl just to see if it would play, and i would not say it played the video well at all, but the SEEKFWD and all of that worked from the network remote when i had the opengl profile selected (it may have fallen back to ffmpeg playback for all i know)

with the openmax profile the SEEKFWD and stuff works when done from a physical keyboard, but when done from a network remote, it does not.

I will look into this. If you need to use it now, you can try the following workaround: In Mythmote press the wrench icon and set the button press long action to "edit key binding". Then long-press on fast-forward and change the key binding from "play seek forward" to "key period", "play seek back" to "key comma", pause and play to "key p". See https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Frontend_control_socket for details.

Fast forward may not work well on the raspberry pi. I prefer to use forward and back arrows, which I have set to jump forward 1 minute and back 20 seconds. You may find that preferable.
